I tested using 100 destroyer robots in a single squad, appears to me that only 10-20 actually engage in combat when they reach a biters hive, the rest go dormant (they just freeze in their place, they don't move or attack, even if attacked) until a new squad comes nearby so they join it.
Factorio version 1.1.5, generated the game with the mod enabled.
