My one frustration with DiscoveryTree is not having any way to know how many pre-requisites are left or what "path" I need to take in order to get to a specific technology.
Ex. I have unlocked Tesla Turrets and can see Electric Weapon Damage 3, I have no way of knowing that to get the pre-requisites Electric Energy Damage 1+2 I need to research Destroyer Drones. If there was some way of indicating what technologies were required to get to a tech or what technologies have more locked behind them that would be extremely helpful.
Another option is maybe always show pre-requisites for visible "Essential" techs (factorio definition) so the player has some sense of what they need to make forward progress.
Another mod you can look at is Planet Rubia, they have their own hidden technology solution where the "tree structure" is visible but the contents of most techs are hidden except for a few specific ones. If it was possible to apply this to the whole tech tree, with "Essential" (using Factorio's definition would probably work) techs being visible, I think that could be a great way to direct progress without spoiling the game.
