Arguably this is a bug with Shchierbin, but per the mod description re: recycling patches, I figure it should go here. Just let me know if that guess is wrong.
Shchierbin adds an alternative recipe to create artillery shells from its vanadium steel instead of tungsten, but it seems it also updates the recycling recipe for original arty shells to return vanadium instead of tungsten. I think its probably cursed either way (recycling will allow you to convert one into the other), so the only alternative would be to add some "vanadium artillery shell" that otherwise behaves identically to regular arty shells, so the crafting lineage can be preserved.

In the mean time, I'd argue tungsten makes more sense to get back, since vulcanus science is a prereq for v-arty, at least in the razi pack I'm running.

I don't use Shchierbin so I'm not sure the intended thing here. But I imagine it should just recycle to what artillery shells should do. Sounds like a bug in their mod, but I can maybe do something about it in a future version if it isn't maintained.

Last discussion post on that mod is from like a month ago, but I made a post, we'll see what comes of it. Admittedly, its not a huge deal- obvious workaround is just not to recycle artillery shells. I'll just lob them at the neighbors instead.
