g Question: less strict logic

What do you mean as "less strict logic" for shift + Left-click?

Instead of forcing 90°, it tries to make every pole have a connection in each cardinal direction. It's for cleaning an area that wasn't built with the 90° restriction in mind.

In other words, it first connects the poles at 90 degrees, and then tries to add more connections from those that were previously there but were not at 90 degrees.
Technically, if a pole was now able to connect to four of its neighbours at 90 degrees, then there will be one more connection (the 5th) left from the ones that were there before this tool was applied.

And the strict mode does not retain the former connections at all.
Right?

I don't believe you would end up with more than 4 connections. In the less strict mode, priority is by distance, not angle, so it may not take a 90° connection if a closer, off-angle connection is available.

You're correct that strict mode does not retain former connections

Okay, I think I'm starting to get it:
the non-strict mode here is to connect at about 90 degrees, but not exactly.
It's not to preserve some of the diagonal and/or optional connections.

Yep. Primarily to use the planner in an area where enforcing exactly 90° would cause issues.

Then it's okay. The only confusing thing is that this option is enabled by default.

If we are talking about a new game - this approach cannot be used there, at least automatic disconnection of poles from blueprints is misleading for new players.
I would advise/suggest to switch this enforcer mode off by default, and any player KNOWING about the mod in the game and how it works - can enable this option for themselves

That's why there is a shortcut; there were more issues with disabled-by-default logic because players would ask "why mod no work"

strange, but ok =)
