Can you eat the food from the Homeworld mod?
Probably not, but it wouldn't be too hard for either mod to add support.
I feel compatibility should be on this mods' end, as eating the food from Homeworld is beyond that mod's scope. whereas, this mod's whole goal is to need to eat. But that's just me.
