You use the Magnet in the Logistics tab just run around and it picks up ore off the ground. Works really good when dropping ore all over the place as it happens in this game now and then.
Just holding the Magnet in hand works just fine for me in God mode. (used Create Mode- "God Mode") made clean up very easy.
