In the Forestry submenu, you find the "Stone Dust" recipe that turns stone into stone dust. (Or you can get it from Mineral Combs)
In the same submenu is the "Sand" recipe (Looks like a stone dust icon with snow coming from underneath) that turns stone dust into sand, Bamboo shoot, Cotton seeds, (sunflower) Seeds and Silicon.
