not sure why but there isn't a single ore patch near my base... I loaded up map editor and flew around and found some DEEP but I loaded a new game to check and everything is loading fine in a new world.

I have some other options to get the ore but this made things way more complicated

Yeah, the Py ores seem to be a bit glitchy depending on the richness/size settings. Not sure if I can fix it, seems like a problem with their mod. I had luck leaving all the settings default for borax/niobium/etc.

I turned down everything because I didn't like how close everything was... but niobium if you turn it down it realllly pushes it out there
