g suggestion: allow multiple outputs from sublevel

1 year, 8 months ago

this is a suggestion to allow multiple outputs from sublevel (level 2,3 ect)

I am imaging that in a sublevel one of the hotkeys (maybe alt leftclick) will result in that recipe trying to fulfill requests both in the subfloor and above it

example use case
a circuit sublevel that outputs all 3 circuit tiers

2nd example
inside the subfloor needs 20 light oil (for solid fuel) and 200 heavy oil (for lube)
outside the subfloor needs 200 light oil
if Advanced Oil Processing can see outside the sub floor it will try to satisfy 220 light oil and 200 heavy oil.

This has been suggested before, and the sublevels explicitly don't work this way as I think it makes them easier to understand and reason about. The idea is not bad, it's more akin to a 'folder' of recipes rather than a subfloor in my mind, and I think it does have its merits for people that want it. It's not a very high priority though at the moment.

btw, appreciate the examples to illustrate your idea, really helps!

"This has been suggested before"
That is because it is already in helmod, and is extremely useful there.

"the sublevels explicitly don't work this way as I think it makes them easier to understand and reason about."
Under my suggestion they would still act the old way normally, only when you press alt + leftclick a recipe will it be able to do this (similar to ctrl leftclick disabling them)

"it's more akin to a 'folder' of recipes rather than a subfloor in my mind"
Both provided examples fit perfectly into cases where multiple recipes should be put in a single subfloor, I do not want light oil production and heavy oil production separate.

Yeah I get what you mean. We'll see how it goes.
