Quickprint deprecated

Adds a blueprint that is wiped after placing it. Useful for one-time copying of small factory bits. (0.17 has built-in copy/paste so there's not going to be any updates.) (Languages: English, Deutsch, 日本語)

i Cut & paste in addition to copy & paste?

Sometimes I just want to move a section of the factory a bit not duplicate it.

I've found these mods so far that seem to do similar:
- https://mods.factorio.com/mod/cut-and-paste
- https://mods.factorio.com/mod/cut-and-paste-016

Not sure about their quality. Quickprint seems to be more maintained nowadays. I also like how Quickprint does stuff, so it would be nice if this feature was easy to be added here.

Have a look at https://www.factorio.com/blog/post/fff-255
I expect that the changes in 0.17 will completely replace this mod, including cut/copy. This is the reason why i haven't added any features to Quickprint since that post even though i had a few ideas left. I expect the built-in functionality to work far better than i could ever do within the limitations of the modding API. So i'm basically waiting for 0.17 to consider if it's worth continuing development of Quickprint or not.

I see, interesting. I'm glad the main devs are considering adding these features, but at the same time I think there might still be room for this mod.

Think of small QoL improvements like shift+c that I quite like that the main implementation likely won't support. Also, even though they show cut+paste, they mark for deconstruction immediately, while it might be better to mark only after the player decided to place stuff. There is conversation about that involving the 'neutral force' over here: https://github.com/mickael9/cut-and-paste/issues/7

So even with an official implementation, this mod might still be better.

As i said, i'll need to see 0.17 before i can say what will become of Quickprint (but to be transparent, the chances of continued development are slim at best).
Undo/Redo is already planned for the official implementation.

I originally created Quickprint to make building small repeating patterns (furnace rows, etc) easier. The thread you linked is a completely differnt use-case of moving already built entities which would need a different tool imho, because when i say "cut" then i don't want a bunch of untouchable buildings, i want them gone. (Also i don't want the user to end up with garbage buildings when they uninstall the mod.)

Also a major hurdle for a 0.17 implmenetation is that i'd have to cope with the build-in hotkeys by either hijacking them or making up yet another set of hotkeys. Neither of which sounds particularly fun to do. Because the whole Quickprint "item" thing was always just a workaround for not using hotkeys and there are better API solutions available in 0.17.
