It could be range limited? LIke 10-40 tiles only and no pump to use to make it longer. Also, instead of a "water pump" pumping molten lave into the foundry...it would be an "entry-section runner" being placed at the edge of the lava lake and then you continue with a few trough-sections leading to a foundry entry point.
