I like this mod, problem is, i also often view and moving the map around (with movement keys, not mouse) while riding the train.
So, there's been a lot of times where i don't want to control the train, but the mod think i'm attempting to control the train, thus toggled the train to manual.

So, if possible, can you make it that while i'm on the map, the mod ignore the movement key i made.
After all, we can't control driving or any kind of movement (vehicle or foot) while on map mode.

I've had the exact same problem, but couldn't find a way to check if the player is looking at the map or not.

But now I found the render_mode on LuaPlayer which does just that. So in version 0.0.3 you won't accidentally set the train in manual when looking at the map.
