so 0.16 broke my world by replacing random parts of water with land and i got this mod to help me fix that and... i have no idea how to use it, and when i checked the page here to find out what i needed to do... there was nothing here explaining what was needed to be done... i would love propper explanation on how to use this mod.

Thanks for trying out my mod. On the information page there is an explenation on how to use it:

A mod that removes the recipy of landfill. If you want to landfill, you can craft land mover (if researched). Dig a hole, and get the land (it will be replaced by water as you dig under the sea level). You'll get landfill in your inventory instead. Now you can replace your digged up land somewhere else!

In other words: Research the tech, then create some "Land Mover". Go to the place you want to dig up land (it will convert the digged up land into water). As a result from that, you'll get some landfill (like how you know it in the vanilla game) into your inventory. You can place that landfill whereever you want. In short, you don't just create land anymore from the vanilla stone, but you move already existing land to somewhere else.

ok i got it working now... also when you place water on the player it instantly kills the player idk if thats a mechanic in factorio or the mod...

It's a factorio mechanic, nothing I can do about that

This didn't answer anything. How do you dig the hole? I have the shovel. Now what? Nothing I click or press digs a hole. Does the shovel need to be somewhere specific to work?

Hi,

The shovel is used in the 'land mover' entity (you can see in the tech tree) you see you unlock it the same time as the shovel. The shovel is just used as an ingredient in the landmover.

Then with the land mover entity you can dig up land (just like the landfill would place it), just as stated in the first line of the description.
