In Linux and Mac, it should be easy to create a script.
You could use Python to make it platform-independent.
It should:
Download zip files
Unzip them
Modify the JSON file
Delete the zip file and keep the folder.
This is one of those things that I could do, but should not do.
If this is not against mod portal rules, it should be. While what you describe is helpful, what if I make an error and wipe user's files? No, no, no. :D
