I know this may be a huge undertaking but is it possible to have an actual flag item with pole in the game? That has a small animation.

They could be placed like biter poles and stops enemies from spawning in that spot.

That animated pole flag will be so nice!!!! Like marking territory (it could have a colorful radius of action where no biter could be reborn in this radius.) !! Im seeing some examples like this http://www.netanimations.net/canada_flag_onpole_e0.gif ...

You give an idea of thinking of maybe creating a flag like that based on the color of the player. (yellow / blue / etc), and then maybe make variants for countries later...

It has to be a expensive flag for its use.
Large radius.
Cant be attacked by the bitters.
