Big Mining Drills repeatedly report that they're depleted, when they still have stuff to mine. At a guess, the timer might not be accounting for the larger drill area, and thus not seeing all the ores the drill has access too.
The mod do actually support the full big drill coverage, the issue was most likely caused by it not accounting for the resource depletion bonus. You can use my fork instead if you want.
