Delete chunks which contain no player entities, configurable chunk radius & paving detection
Providing the player with new tools or adjusting the game interface, without fundamentally changing gameplay.

Yeah i was also thinking about the same thing. Still waiting for it to update...
While people are waiting, there are more privitive ways to delete chunks using the game console, listed on the Factorio Wiki about half-way down the "Console" page.
