In mod 'https://mods.factorio.com/mod/deadlock-stacking-crating-bobs' there is a feature that stacked items could be burned like regular fuel, for example non-stacked wood has 2.0MJ, so stacked (5x options) has a value of 10.0 MJ. In this mod, stacked items are not treated as fuel. I would ask you to add this feature if there is no problem with it.

I am using the API from deadlock stacking to make the stacked items. That mod does not support fuel values when the fuel also has a pollution factor.

I added a pull request to your nascent repro of this that should resolve this issue.
